The Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda Resort was absolutely beautiful. The walkways were so lush and there was a lot of wild life. Our favorite was the "nose bear" - it was the size of a
raccoon with a long anteater nose and a tail that was as long as a monkeys and stuck straight up in the air. The animal was very fast and was able to climb trees. There was also a white furrow dog that would only come out at night- pretty funny watching people try to pet it. It was definitely a wild dog.

All you can drink and eat! Bring on the
cervezas and margaritas! There was a pool side bar with swings (wish I had gotten a picture). I am also now addicted to fresh guacamole!

The room was so nice and the bed was super comfy- we managed to have an afternoon nap everyday.... now that's what I call a vacation!
TulumThe doorways to the building were about 4 feet tall. Our tour guide said that they were very short people. He also explained that the buildings with stone roofs were temples, while the homes roofs were made of grass.

Each night you could put in a reservation to eat at one of two different
restaurant options.
This was at the Oriental Restaurant - the Sushi was amazing!!

It was so so so HOT! Even my Snickers bar that I bought at the hotel shop didn't stand a chance to survive.

We went to
Xel Ha for half a day and
snorkeled, watched
dolphins and enjoyed the nature. I was pretty determined to catch a gecko but was unsuccessful.

Tulum
The final night has a "Mexican" theme. There were flea market vendors at the resort, dancers who performed cultural dances and the mechanical bull. John rode the bull 5 times! He kept thinking that the person operating the bull wasn't being aggressive enough but he was completely sore for the next 3 days. It was very entertaining. I also took a turn on the mechanical bull!
