Releasing the Triops

Giving the Triops a better place to live.

The Triops

Braxton really likes science projects. This one was a really fun one where you grow a triops (maybe it is a brine shrimp- I am not sure) from a little egg, the size of a mustard seed. It is very finicky and needed spring water and we had to maintain its aquarium at 72 degrees, which meant that a lamp had to be on 24/7. Braxton did a great job feeding the triops everyday and it got to be over one inch long. After tending to the triops for about a month, we thought it would be nice for it to live outside of its plastic aquarium (the truth is that John was tired of it being in my laundry room :) We went to our nearby pond and released it. I was teasing Brax telling him we should have a little memorial service for him but Brax didn't think it was necessary.

(Thanks Aunt Sarah for another great science project!)
